23rd Anniversary Youm-e-Takbir:
Youm-e-Takbir is being observed on Friday to commemorate historic nuclear tests Pakistan conducted on May 28 in 1998.
On the occasion of 23rd nuclear tests ceremony, the nation reaffirmed its resolve to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence against any form of aggression.
Pakistan is committed to continuing to work towards the promotion of an environment of peace and stability at the regional and global levels.
Pakistan has been actively contributing to international efforts for strengthening global norms on arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament and follows latest international standards on export controls, nuclear safety and security at the national level.
The day was officially signed by Prime Minister Sharif. It was first celebrated by giving awards such as Chaghi Medal to various individuals and industries in the fields of science and industry.
The Sharif government also established the Chagai Medal which was first awarded to the scientists of Pakistan in 1998 who witnessed the tests.
The graphite mountains are visibly shown in the gold medallion and equal ribbon stripes of yellow, red and white.
This name was suggested by more than one person. All persons who suggested this name were given away Prime Minister Award, few names who are the contributors to the proposed name and get the certificate are Prof. Rana Muhammad Imran from Bhakhar.
23rd Anniversary Youm-e-Takbir:
This year, Youm-e-Takbeer has been marked by the inauguration of 1100 MWe K-2 in Karachi which adds much valuable, cleaner, reliable and affordable electricity to the national energy mix.
This underscores the role of nuclear science and technology in the socio-economic development of the country and the welfare of its people. Besides nuclear power generation, Pakistan has harnessed nuclear technology for public service in diverse areas including cancer diagnosis and treatment, public health, agriculture, environment protection and industry.
The nation pays its tribute to the contributions of its scientists, engineers and technicians for the security and development of Pakistan.
The nuclear explosions, which were conducted in self-defence to respond to India’s aggression of nuclear tests, made Pakistan’s defence invincible.
As a result, Pakistan became the first nuclear power in the Muslim world and seventh in the world.
